MacKay Medical University and National Taitung University signed a MOU on Nursing Education and Clinical Talent Cultivation,Together building a new vision for healthcare in Eastern Taiwan.
To deepen cooperation in nursing education and strengthen the capacity for clinical talent cultivation, MacKay Medical University and National Taitung University on May 22, 2026 in MacKay Medical University 4F Center for Demonstrative Teaching and Remote Education held the signing ceremony of MOU on Nursing Education and Clinical Talent Cultivation, officially launching the two universities' partnership in nursing talent cultivation related to department management and educational quality support, faculty development and professional exchange and student learning and clinical cultivation cooperation, and other long-term partnerships, jointly promoting the development of nursing education and healthcare talent cultivation in Eastern Taiwan.
This collaboration is in response to National Taitung University's Department of Nursing from August 1, 2026 official enrollment, and both parties will, based on the spirit of resource sharing, professional support, and joint talent cultivation, promote multi-faceted cooperation in nursing education, faculty development, and student clinical cultivation. President Hung-Yi Yeh said, our university has long been deeply involved in medical and nursing education, and is closely integrated with the MacKay medical system, possessing rich experience in clinical teaching and talent cultivation. This collaboration with National Taitung University not only demonstrates the spirit of higher education resource sharing but also aims to help cultivate outstanding nursing talent in Eastern Taiwan through cross-university cooperation, enhance healthcare capacity in remote and indigenous areas, and fulfill the university's social responsibility.
This event was attended by MacKay Medical University President Hung-Yi Yeh and his management team, including Chief Secretary Yung-Shun Shen, Dean of Student Affairs Tzu-Wei Wu, Dean of General Affairs An-Sheng Li, Dean of Library and Information Services Cheng-Yung Lin, Chief Accountant Wen-Yen Feng ,Director of the Chaplain's Office Yi-Lun Chang, Dean of the College of Nursing Yu-Ho Lai, who is also the Head of the Department of Nursing, Director Kuang-Wen Tseng from the Office of Academic Affairs, and Director Yu-Ching Chou from the Office of Research and Development etc. Taitung University was led by President Hsien-Chung Cheng, with attendees including Administrative Vice President Chao-Chun Hu, Dean of Research and Development Yao-Chung Chang, Director of the Nursing Department Preparatory Office Tai-Chia Chiu, Director of the General Affairs Division, Office of Research and Development, Yi-Hsuan Wu, Nursing Department Secretary Nai-Wen Chang. to witness this historic moment of cooperation between the two universities. The event commenced in the afternoon at 14:00 p.m., with speeches from the presidents of both universities and introductions of the attending personnel, Chief secretary Yung-Shun Shen presented an overview of MacKay Medical University's affairs, and Dean Yu-Ho Lai introduced the Department of Nursing. Subsequently, the two parties engaged in-depth discussions, sharing their respective university's characteristics and core development directions, and discussing future cooperation blueprints. Including discussions on developing nursing integrated with AI Master's programs, exchange students etc. and sharing experiences in student psychological counseling. Both parties hope to create a new paradigm for interdisciplinary cooperation in higher education by complementing each other's strengths.
The signing ceremony officially took place in the afternoon at 16:00 p.m. The presidents of both universities completed the signing and exchanged souvenirs, symbolizing the formal establishment of a strong strategic partnership between the two institutions. After wards, the Taitung University team toured the campus. The itinerary included MacKay Medical University's cadaver dissection laboratory, the multi-functional classroom of the Department of Nursing, maternity and pediatric nursing demonstration classroom, clinical skills center, simulated teaching classroom, multi-functional activity center and other facilities. They gained a firsthand understanding of the university's planning and achievements in medical and nursing education and clinical simulation teaching, and the exchange was lively.
In the future, our university will continue to uphold the DR. MacKay spirit of "Rather burn out than rust out" combining educational and medical resources, deepening the cross-university cooperation network, and working together to cultivate a new generation of nursing professionals with both professional competence and humanistic care, jointly promoting the sustainable development of medical and nursing education and healthcare in Eastern Taiwan.
