MacKay Medical University and National Dong Hwa University Sign Cooperation Agreement

MacKay Medical University and National Dong Hwa University Sign Academic and Teaching Cooperation Agreement Jointly Advancing Smart Healthcare, Interdisciplinary Education, and International Academic Collaboration

MacKay Medical University (MMU) and National Dong Hwa University (NDHU) officially signed an Academic and Teaching Cooperation Agreement on June 1, 2026 at the Board Conference Room of MMU’s First Teaching and Research Building. The agreement was signed by MMU President Dr. Hung-Yi Yeh and NDHU President Dr. Hui-Ming Hsu, marking the establishment of a long-term strategic partnership between the two universities.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior administrators and academic representatives from both institutions, This event was attended by MacKay Medical University President Hung-Yi Yeh and his management team, including Chief Secretary Yung-Shun Shen, Dean of Academic Affairs Li-keung Hwang, Dean of General Affairs An-Sheng Li, Dean of Library and Information Services Cheng-Yung Lin, Director of the International Affairs Yvonne Hsiung, Chief Accountant Wen-Yen Feng , Dean of the College of Medicine Yih-Jer Wu, Dean of the College of Nursing Yu-Ho Lai who is also the Head of the Department of Nursing, Director Mei-Miao Chiu from the Office of Student Affairs, Director Yi-Chuan Chen from the Office of Research and Development and Professor Yu-Qing Zhou etc. Dong Hwa University was represented by President Hui-Ming Hsu, along with eight other attendees including Chief Secretary Te-Sheng Chang, Director of the Office of Research and Development Chu-Hsuan Lin, Provost Hung-Tu Chen, Director of the Office of International Affairs Ming-Chien Su, Dean of the Huilan College Chia-Wen Chu, Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medical Sciences, College of Science and Engineering Chih-Wen Peng, and Professor Jo-Lan Hsieh of the Department of Ethnic Relations and Cultural Studies, College of Indigenous Peoples. shared commitment to resource integration and inter-university collaboration in higher education.

President Yeh stated that MMU has actively promoted innovation in medical education and the development of smart healthcare in recent years. Through this partnership, MMU aims to combine its strengths in medical and health sciences with NDHU’s expertise in humanities, technology, and interdisciplinary research to cultivate healthcare professionals with global perspectives and cross-disciplinary competencies.

President Hsu noted that NDHU has long been dedicated to sustainable development, digital innovation, and multicultural education. He expressed that the collaboration with MMU will further strengthen smart healthcare initiatives, distance learning opportunities, and research integration, while providing broader learning and research opportunities for faculty and students from both universities.

According to the agreement, the two universities will collaborate in areas including cross-registration and credit recognition, shared distance-learning courses, development of smart digital healthcare programs, joint research teams, co-supervision of graduate students, sharing of library and research resources, international academic exchange, and industry-academia cooperation projects.

Both institutions also aim to enhance international academic competitiveness through collaborative research publications and innovative educational initiatives, establishing a new model for sustainable and interdisciplinary higher education cooperation in Taiwan.

Following the signing ceremony, NDHU delegates toured MMU’s specialized teaching facilities, including the Department of Optometry laboratories, gross anatomy laboratory, pediatric and maternity nursing classrooms, and the Speech-Language Pathology training center, gaining insight into MMU’s achievements in medical education and hands-on professional training.

Through this collaboration, both universities look forward to deepening academic exchange, fostering interdisciplinary innovation, and jointly cultivating future-ready talents to meet the evolving needs of society.
