Bringing Alumni Together to Build a New Chapter for the Alumni Community

To strengthen alumni connections and unite the strength of its graduates, MacKay Medical University (MMU) held the Inaugural General Assembly and First Board Meeting of the MacKay Medical University Alumni Association at 10:00 a.m. on September 12, 2026. Alumni from various locations gathered on campus to witness the official establishment of the Alumni Association, marking a new chapter in its future development.

Alumni Reunite on Campus to Celebrate the Establishment of the Association

Beginning at 9:30 a.m., alumni returned to campus to register and reunite with faculty members, classmates, and old friends. The campus was filled with warmth and excitement as familiar faces came together once again.

The General Assembly officially commenced at 10:00 a.m. with opening performances by the Dance Club and the Orchestra Club. The university's distinguished guests, including Board Chairperson Chou Ke-hsiu, President Yeh Hung-i, and Chief Secretary Shen Yung-shun, were introduced and welcomed. Their presence added to the sense of unity and shared pride among the Mackay community.

The meeting was chaired by Li Tai-mei, Chairperson of the Alumni Association Preparatory Committee and an alumna of the Graduate Institute of Forensic Science. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation for alumni's longstanding care and support for their alma mater. She also expressed her hope that the newly established Alumni Association would serve as an important platform connecting the university and its graduates, fostering interaction and mutual support among alumni from different generations and professional fields, while carrying forward the MacKay spirit.

Board Chairperson Chou Ke-hsiu and President Yeh Hung-i subsequently delivered remarks, extending their warm welcome and best wishes to the returning alumni. Through their exchanges with alumni, they shared their aspirations for the university's development and provided insights into MMU's current direction and future vision.

Understanding University Development and Supporting the Alma Mater's Future

Chief Secretary Shen Yung-shun then presented an overview of the university's current status, introducing recent developments in teaching, research, talent cultivation, and institutional advancement. As the university continues to grow and evolve, its progress remains close to the hearts of its alumni. The presentation offered graduates an opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater and consider how their professional expertise and experience could contribute to the university and support younger generations of students.

The assembly proceeded with reports on the Alumni Association's preparatory work and financial income and expenditures during the preparatory period, followed by discussions of proposals submitted to the General Assembly. Through transparent and open procedures, members worked together to establish a solid foundation for the Association's future operations and development.

Following the General Assembly, elections were held for the first Board of Directors and Board of Supervisors. In accordance with the Association's bylaws, nine directors and three supervisors were to be elected to form the first governing bodies and complete the formal establishment of the Alumni Association.

Building Consensus and Working Together for the Association's Development

After a brief break, the election ballots were counted, and the required number of directors and supervisors was successfully elected. The first board meeting was then convened.

Through the collective participation and division of responsibilities among the directors and supervisors, the Alumni Association will gradually establish mechanisms for alumni services, communication, networking, and support for the university's development. The Association aims to become a strong and lasting bridge between MMU and its alumni.

Carrying Forward the MacKay Spirit and Creating a New Platform for Alumni Engagement

For many returning alumni, the gathering was more than a general assembly—it was a heartfelt homecoming filled with memories and emotions. Over lunch and conversations, former classmates reunited, while alumni from different generations had opportunities to meet and connect, allowing friendships and bonds to continue to grow.

The establishment of the Alumni Association represents not only a new stage in alumni organization but also a closer connection between the university and its graduates. Wherever alumni may be and whatever professional fields they serve, the friendships and shared memories formed at MacKay will remain a source of mutual support and inspiration as they move forward.

Looking ahead, the MacKay Medical University Alumni Association will continue to unite alumni, promote networking and alumni services, and encourage graduates to contribute their professional expertise and experience to their alma mater while supporting the growth of younger students. Through the collective efforts of generations of MacKay alumni, the Association is expected to become an important platform for connecting graduates, supporting the university, and passing on the MacKay spirit—opening a new chapter of shared growth between the university and its alumni.
